Origin of the Man of Steel

MARK WAID AND LEINIL YU HAS PROVIDED US WITH A MASTERPIECE HERE. AS INTENDED, THEY MANAGED TO PRODUCE A VISION OF THE BIG, BLUE BOY SCOUT'S ORIGIN SUITABLE FOR OUR TIMES.

THIS IS A GREAT READ AS A TRADE PAPERBACK, AND I'M GLAD THAT I WAITED FOR THE COLLECTED EDITION TO COME OUT BEFORE TRYING THIS SERIES BECAUSE YOU JUST CAN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN. SINCE I'M A FAN OF THE SMALLVILLE TV SERIES, THE CLOSE AND INTENTIONAL TIES BETWEEN THE TWO MEDIA MADE ME A HAPPY READER.

IT IS VERY PRONOUNCED HERE THAT "METROPOLIS CLARK" IS AN ELABORATE RUSE AND THE ACTUAL DISGUISE IN THE SUPERMAN MYTHOS, AND THIS WAS PAINFULLY ILLUSTRATED IN ONE OF THE CHAPTERS.

IT WAS ALSO REFRESHING TO SEE THAT PRE-SUPERMAN CLARK HAS LEARNED ABOUT THE REST OF THE WORLD AFTER HIS TIME IN SMALLVILLE. I HOPE THIS IS THE SAME PATH THAT THE KANSAS FARMBOY TAKES AS THE LAST SEASON OF THE TV SERIES PROGRESSES. IMPULSE ALREADY CONVINCED HIM TO TRAVEL TO FLORIDA AFTER ALL.
